Jimmy Morales, the president of Guatemala, is expected to announce on Sunday that his country will follow in the US’ footsteps and move its embassy to Jerusalem as soon as May of this year.

Morales, who is meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Sunday, already stated in December that Guatemala would move its embassy, thus becoming the first country other than the US to make that announcement.

Guatemala was one of nine countries that voted against the UN resolution to reject US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
