Israel’s Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan on Tuesday unveiled his plan for tackling the phenomenon of drivers who help Palestinians enter Israel illegally for money. Erdan’s proposed steps include revoking the assistants’ driving license and confiscating their vehicle.
Erdan said the act was “a very common offence whose perpetrators prefer their own financial gain over public security.”
According to a memo issued by Erdan, the amendments he proposes are based on court rulings from recent years in cases concerning illegal entry.
