The Prime Minister said Sunday he fully backs the Trump administration’s criticism of UNRWA, adding that US funding should be gradually redirected to the UN body that helps refugees in other parts of the world.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday backed the US administration’s criticism of UNRWA, a UN agency dedicated to providing aid to Palestinian refugees, saying the US resources should instead go to the UN agency that helps refugees from all over the world.

“I completely agree with (US President) Trump’s sharp criticism of UNRWA,” Netanyahu said ahead of a government meeting on Sunday. “UNRWA is an organization that perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem as well as the Palestinian narrative of the so-called right of return, meant to annihilate the State of Israel.”

Netanyahu further argued that UNRWA should cease to exist. “The UN has an agency for dealing with refugees in the rest of the world. This absurdity must be stopped,” he said.
