The Israeli government convened on Friday for a special meeting to mark 70 years since the establishment of the state. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the latest threats from Iran and assured that the IDF is prepared for any scenario.

“We are confident of our ability to defend ourselves by ourselves, and that is the essence of our independence,” Netanyahu said. “We are hearing threats from Iran, but the IDF and security forces are prepared for everything.”

Netanyahu also thanked world leaders for congratulating Israel on its 70th anniversary. “The citizens of Israel are proud of their country, love it and are able to appreciate its achievements in various fields,” he added.

The meeting took place at Independence Hall in Tel Aviv, where Israel’s first leader David Ben Gurion announced its establishment exactly 70 years ago.
