Two children, aged two and five respectively, died in a fire on the second floor of a five-storied residential building in Beitar Illit, West Bank; a further eight people were injured.

The fire was reported to have been caused by a lamp bulb that had burst and fallen on a bed.

Zvi Ginzburg (two years old) and his five-year-old sister Efrat were killed in this tragic episode.

Four fire teams, plus a crane brought from Jerusalem, came to the scene to try to control the fire and rescue the people trapped inside the building.

During the rescue, nine injured people were removed from the scene. Two children were in critical condition, later the paramedics of Magen David Adom (Red Star of David, emergency service) declared them dead.
