Iran released 4 prisoners who hold dual citizenship. In this regard an Iranian prosecutor said, “The deal is in our national interest.” Among the released are Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian who was accused of spying. An American student, who was arrested in Tehran, has also been released.

It should be noted that on April 2015 at the annual White House Correspondents’ US President Barack Obama said that Rezaian had been unjustly imprisoned. “I have told him personally that we will not rest until we bring him home to his family, safe and sound,” Obama stated.

Earlier this week, 10 American sailors were released after being detained in Iranian territorial waters. Hours after their release, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards published unflattering pictures of the US navy sailors surrendering and kneeling with their hands up as the Iranian forces raid the ship. In another video clip, one of the fighters apologized and praised the Iranians: “It was a mistake, it was our fault and we ask for forgiveness. We thank you for your hospitality and assistance and we don’t have any problem.”
