IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot addressed today (Sunday) this past weekend’s attack in Syria in which the IDF acted to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah. “We maintain our security interests and work to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah, which we will make every effort to prevent in the future,” stated Eizenkot.
“In light of the changes in Lebanon, the IDF acts and will continue to act to improve the readiness and development of distinctly advantageous capabilities and readiness for any scenario over our enemies,” added the IDF chief of staff at a military ceremony. “The IDF is closely following the everchanging events on the Syrian and Lebanese fronts.” During the ceremony, General Yoel Strick assumed his position as the new commander of the Northern IDF Command, thus replacing General Aviv Kochavi.
“Hezbollah in Lebanon continues its efforts to acquire more lethal and accurate weapons to hit Israel’s homefront,” continued Eizenkot. “Statements recently made from Beirut clarify that a future war will be with Lebanon and all organizations working under the government’s umbrella.”
