An official document was forwarded by the IDF’s Head of the Personnel Directorate Hagi Topolansky stating that the beard-growing scandal led to extensive administrative work.

The conclusions reached were that the authority to approve beard-growing permits will be transferred to the soldiers’ direct commanders rather than the unit’s Chief Adjutancy Officers. In addition, the military rabbis will be able to recommend the permit on religious grounds.

The decision was reached after a meeting between the Head of the Personnel Directorate and Tzav Echad organization, which opened a special line of communication for complaints of religious soldiers that felt their lifestyle was being harmed by the military.
