In response to the rocket that was fired toward Ashkelon Tuesday night and landed in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, the IDF attacked two Hamas terror targets in northern Gaza. “The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for the occurrences in the Gaza Strip,” the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement. No damage or injuries were caused by the rocket.

The rocket fire comes just a few days after IDF soldiers spotted a drone that took off from Gaza and crashed in Israeli territory. The drone was taken from the crash site for testing. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

In February, Israeli security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle hundreds of drones and other banned items into the Gaza Strip through the postal service. The packages were inspected at the Erez Border Crossing and contained items that were ordered online by civilians in Gaza: drones, electronic items, lasers and more. The Israeli security forces suspect that the civilians were being exploited by the terrorist organizations in Gaza.
