The Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection will investigate yesterday’s oil refinery fire in Haifa. The investigation is expected to report on its conclusions in a few days because of the issue’s importance.
Today (Monday), Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection decided to establish a special inquiry team that will be led by the Green Police Chief and will investigate yesterday’s Haifa oil refinery fire.
The inquiry team will include the office’s specialized officials and outside consultants. The team already began to investigate the case and will publish initial conclusions in several days due to the urgency of the matter.
During the night, 15 firefighting teams succeeded to take control of the fire. At the same time, the investigation into what caused the fire continues. It is believed that human error or a technical failure caused the fire.
Yesterday, environmental organizations and residents protested in Haifa against the authorities and factories.
