According to the Iranian state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the death toll from the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit western Iran on Sunday climbed to at least 407, with over 6,700 people injured. The powerful earthquake was felt all through the surrounding region, including Israel, Pakistan and Kuwait.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing in the region of Kermanshah, where the authorities are reportedly facing difficulties due to mountainous conditions. An official speaking to the Tasnim News Agency reported that several villages in the region have been entirely destroyed.
