In an official statement, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif applauded an Iraqi court’s ruling to order the arrest of former US President Donald Trump for the murder of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, an Iraqi commander of the Popular Mobilization Committee, who was also assassinated by the United States.

“Putting an end to the presence of US forces in the region would be the best response to this terrorist act,” Zarif said during an interview with Iranian based PressTV.

Iraqi law stipulates that, if murder is premeditated, the suspect can face the death penalty.

Israel and Iran have had even further hostile relations ever since Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was killed. A statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Agency alleges that Israeli Mossad were involved in the death of Fakhrizaderh. However, Israel did not take responsibility for the killing of Soleimani or Fakhrizadeh.
