In a speech to state officials, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared that there will be no war with the United States.  Khamenei said the US is just testing their resolve, “this face-off is not military because there is not going to be any war. Neither we nor them seek war. They know it will not be in their interest.”

The confrontation has been dramatically escalating ever since the US sent a heavily armed aircraft carrier to the region, and when US President Donald Trump said that a military confrontation with Iran “is possible”.

“We have information that you don’t want to know about. They were very threatening and we have to have great security for this country and many other places,”  Trump said at the White House last week.

Then, when asked if a military confrontation with Iran was possible, Trump replied: “I guess you could say that always, right? I don’t want to say no, but hopefully, that won’t happen. We have one of the most powerful ships in the world that is loaded up and we don’t want to do anything.”

The US President made it clear that he does not want to hurt Iran, rather just that he doesn’t want them having nuclear weapons.

“What they should be doing is calling me up, sitting down. We can make a deal, a fair deal, we just don’t want them to have nuclear weapons – not too much to ask. And we would help put them back to great shape,” he said.

It has been reported that Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, tipped the United States about the Iranian threat that targeted US interests in the Gulf area, that prompted the US to send the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier to the region.

Despite the heavy US sanctions that are tearing up Iran’s economy, Khamenei is still refusing to negotiate a new nuclear deal with the US.
