Iran said on Wednesday that the US would “pay a heavy price” if it continued to pursue new sanctions on Tehran for its ballistic missile development program.
Mohammad Ali Jafari, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, stated, “If the United States wants to pursue sanctions against Iran, it should move its military bases in the region to about 1,000km away from Iran, and beware that it might pay a heavy price for its miscalculations.”
Jafari was quoted by Tasnim and other news agencies in the country.
These statements come one day after US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Iran still poses “one of the most dangerous threats to US interests and to regional stability.”
On Monday, US President Donald Trump said Iran was complying with the terms of the nuclear deal it signed with world powers in 2015.
