In a speech to young Iranian students, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei spoke about their rising tension with the US and Israel, and the Iranian nuclear agreement that is hanging by a thread after US President Donald Trump pulled out of.

“You young people should be assured that you will witness the demise of the enemies of humanity, meaning the degenerate American civilization, and the demise of Israel,” Khamenei said.

In regards, to the nuclear deal, Khamenei said that he was never very happy how Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif handled the agreement in the first place.

In fact, Iran has already notified the remaining partners in the deal (China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom) a few weeks ago that some Iranian ‘commitments’ will need to be readdressed in the current nuclear deal.

The confrontation has been dramatically escalating these past few weeks ever since the US upped its sanction protocol and sent additional warships and planes to the Gulf to the region in recent days.

Last week, in a speech to state officials, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared that there will be no war with the United States.  Khamenei said the US is just testing their resolve, “this face-off is not military because there is not going to be any war. Neither we nor them seek war. They know it will not be in their interest.”

US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he does not want to hurt Iran, rather just that he doesn’t want them having nuclear weapons. In a recent interview with Fox News, the president reiterated his stance that he is not seeking a conflict with Tehran although his country is ready to act if necessary.

“I will not let Iran have nuclear weapons. I don’t want to fight. But you do have situations like Iran, you can’t let them have nuclear weapons,” Trump said.

Despite the heavy US sanctions that are tearing up Iran’s economy, Khamenei is still refusing to negotiate a new nuclear deal with the US.
