Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that Iran would be willing to negotiate with the United States if it reverts economic sanctions and apologizes for its ” illegal ” actions.

His comments came after the Trump administration announced it is trying to stop all Iranian oil exports.

Rouhani said “We have always been supporters of negotiation and diplomacy, the same way that we have always been a people of war and defense,”

“Negotiations will take place after all the pressures are lifted, they apologize for their illegal actions, and there is mutual respect,” the Iranian President said.

This past Monday, the Trump administration announced that as of May 2nd all exceptions for buying crude oil from Iran will end. This announcement affects countries like India and China who still buy crude oil from Iran.

The measure is aimed to completely take out the biggest source of Iran’s economic revenue. It is estimated that this will eliminate $ 50 billion of Iranian annual income, which it uses to fund threatening activities in the Middle East.
