Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that he will not rest until he takes revenge for the US assassination of former Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
Speaking at a cabinet session on Wednesday, Rouhani paid tribute to General Soleimani as a national hero and a brave commander.
“The US president is the main culprit behind the barbaric crime of the assassination of the top Iranian commander. The Iranian nation will not rest until it takes revenge for the blood of the revered commander as a right,” Rouhani said.
“The first slap that the White House criminals received in the face was the massive and historic funeral of General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandas in various cities,” he said.
Rouhani also noted that the “hostile plots to defeat the resistance in the region by the assassination of General Soleimani backfired”, as it boosted the morale of resistance and made the Iraqi parliament pass a bill on the expulsion of American forces from the Arab country.
One of the results of the stupid and rude decision by the US president to assassinate Soleimani was that “Trumpism ended”, Rouhani said, adding that regional and international stability will improve in the post-Trump era.
On January 3, 2020, a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport assassinated Soleimani and a few of his cohorts.
