The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has blamed the US and Israel for the deadly airstrike that kille IRGC General Hassem Soleimani
“The American and Israeli enemy is responsible for killing the Mujahideen Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Qassem Soleimani”, a spokesman for the PMF, Ahmed al-Assadi, said, cited by Reuters.
Iraqi state-run media said Friday that the deputy head of the PMF, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force unit, Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani were killed in the incident.
Netizens took to Twitter, speculating whether Soleimani was really dead. As a piece of alleged evidence, some shared a photo with a limb that purportedly belonged to the corpse of the deceased commander.
According to earlier media reports, all of those killed were in a small convoy leaving the airport on Friday. The missiles are reportedly said to have also hit facilities of the Iraqi army and the international coalition. According to the Al-Sumaria broadcaster, the strike also injured at least 12 Iraqi servicemen and killed a civilian.
