ISIS claimed responsibility on Thursday for the suicide bombing that took place earlier today in Kabul, Afghanistan. At least 40 people were murdered and dozens more were injured in the attack.

The explosion took place at 10:30 AM (local time) at a Shi’ite cultural center. According to a journalist who was at the scene, the terrorist blew himself up in the basement of the center as dozens of people gathered to commemorate the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

After the initial blast, two other explosions were heard but no additional injuries were reported. According to the statement issued by ISIS online, a lone suicide bomber carried out the attack. However, no evidence proving the murderous terrorist group’s connection to the attack was released.

A senior Russian Defense Ministry official stated about a week ago that while the defeat of ISIS in the Middle East is almost complete, thousands of terrorists from the group have entered Afghanistan in the past few weeks.
