ISIS has threatened to behead soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
A photoshopped photo, circulated by the terrorist group on the encrypted messaging channel Telegram, shows Ronaldo and Messi pinned to the ground and beheaded by masked terrorists in a packed soccer stadium. The picture was captioned with the following message: “The ground will be filled with your blood.”
The organization previously published a series of posters, one of which showed Messi behind bars with bloody tears streaming from his eyes. An armed terrorist overlooking a soccer stadium in Russia appeared in another picture with the caption: “The Mujahideen man will burn you.”
Other posters show ISIS threatening “we will be there” in front of a picture of a World Cup stadium. In addition, ISIS has issued calls for terrorists to strike the event using trucks, cars, guns, knives and bombs.
