Bahrain and Israel have signed a joint communique on establishing diplomatic ties. The sides have signed seven memorandums on mutual understanding and cooperation in different fields, according to the minister.
“It was indeed a historic visit, to start opening relations between both countries,” Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani said after the signing ceremony with Israel’s Foreign Ministry director-general Alon Ushpiz and National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat.
On September 15, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain officially signed US-mediated peace agreements with Israel during a ceremony at the White House. Bahrain and the UAE became only the third and fourth Arab nations to normalize relations with Israel, after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.
