Media outlets in the Palestinian Authority are reporting that the body of Abdel-Fattah al-Sharif, the neutralized terrorist who was shot by IDF soldier Elor Azariya, was returned to his family. His funeral, according to the reports, will take place tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.
Al-Sharif was shot when he was lying on the ground, neutralized, after he carried out a stabbing attack in Hebron. His body was handed over to a hospital in Hebron, according to the Palestinian reports.
The incident, which continues to be a topic of public debate in Israel, occurred at the end of March, when Azariya was documented as he shot al-Sharif, after the latter stabbed a 20-year-old IDF soldier in Hebron. In the footage of the shooting, which was released by B’Tselem, Azariya is seen firing straight at al-Sharif’s head.
After the immediate investigation into the shooting, during which Azariya provided a few different accounts of the incident, and after several military tribunal hearings, it was decided that Azariya will be charged with manslaughter.
