A teacher in Ashdod sustained minor injuries to her torso today (Monday) after three teenagers allegedly shot at her with an air gun and fled the scene. The Israel Police combed the area for the suspects and opened an investigation into the incident.
According to the report received by the Israel Police this afternoon, three teenagers rode by the school’s gate on bikes and while one of the boys fired the air gun. The teacher gave testimony to the Israel Police, stating that the boys seemed to be about 14-years-old.
“It’s inconceivable that the phenomenon of violence against teachers is only intensifying and worsening,” MK Yoel Rozvozov (Yesh Atid) stated. “The attack on the teacher could’ve been prevented if the law enforcement system wasn’t treating it as a mere prank, but rather as aggravated assault. If the students who attacked were harshly punished, they wouldn’t be perceived as heroes in their friend’s eyes. This is the reason that we submitted the bill for the severity of punishment for violence against teachers – we can’t arrive upon the day when a teacher is killed.”
