The state will soon approve the construction of over 2,600 housing units in West Bank settlements, some outside the main blocs. An Israeli source insisted that the move isn’t expected to prompt a condemnation by the US administration.

Israel is expected to approve building plans of more than 2,600 housing units in the West Bank, some of them outside of the major settlement blocs. This is the first time since Donald Trump became US President that Israel has approved West Bank construction.

A Civil Administration committee will convene next week to discuss the move. An Israeli source has insisted that a US condemnation is unlikely, saying these are “mainly old plans that have previously been frozen.”
