The Israel Defense Ministry decided to award the lucrative Israeli Defense Prize to the advanced anti-ballistic missile defense system that became operational this year- the Arrow 3.
Today (Monday), the Israel Defense Prize was awarded to Israel Aerospace Industries and its personnel for the development of the Arrow 3 missile defense system.
The prize was awarded at the official residence of the Israeli President by President Reuven Rivlin, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, IDF Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot and Defense Ministry Director General Udi Adam. The Arrow 3 system is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles outside of the atmosphere and is considered one of Israel’s highest-ranking defense system.
The system was actually developed by both Israel and the US. In January, the system became operational and was transferred to the Israeli Air Force.
