Israeli judoka Yarden Gerbi, who won a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, is expected to announce her retirement tomorrow after a year of multiple medical issues.
Since becoming an Olympic medalist last year, Gerbi was injured several times and has undergone surgery. Though she seems to have recovered from her injuries, Gerbi has chosen to retire and is expected to convene a press conference on Monday to announce it formally.
Gerbi is the seventh Israeli athlete to have won an Olympic medal, and the second woman to do so. Sources close to her say she feels she has made the most out of her career.
