Bychenko received 84.13 points for his performance and Samohin received 80.69. In first place is defending champion Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan, who received 111.68 points, breaking a record.

While neither Israeli is expected to win one of the three medals in this sport, they are to compete on Saturday in the final round. Israel has yet to win a medal in the Winter Olympics, but has gained more athletes in recent years, partly due to an increase of Russian immigrants. Israel’s 10 athletes competing in Pyeongchang this year is a record high for Israel in the Winter Olympics.
