The Uber Company is expected to purchase an Israeli start-up for unmanned trucks led by Lior Ron for 680 million dollars.
Only last year Ron resigned from his position as Google’s vice president and opened his new company – Otto. Together with Anthony Levandowski, the two set their goal to create the technology to enable unmanned trucks to drive.
Almost all automobile manufacturers are working on creating this kind of technology. The leading manufacturers, whose cars are already being used, are Google and Tesla.
Ron is confident that his technology will reach the markets before the rest of the companies and will enable trucks to drive freely, especially on highways.
