In his will, US billionaire and Holocaust survivor Edward David Fischman created the E. David Fischman Scholarship Fund that awards scholarships of almost 8 million dollars to Israeli graduate students who are interested in studying at America’s best universities.
More than 3 million dollars has already been awarded to 72 Israeli students who went on to study at universities such as Yale, Columbia, Harvard and other top universities. Graduates must return to Israel for at least 5 years following their studies in order to transform Israel’s society.
One of the foundation’s success stories is Gadi Ezra. Ezra, not yet 30, played professional soccer until receiving his scholarship for the Master’s program in Law at the New York University School of Law. After graduating, he returned to Israel where he worked at the Prime Minister’s Office and currently works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Recently, Ezra entered the Forbes Israel 30 Under 30 List.
