By a 10-7 vote, the House Committee on Wednesday decided to approve for its first reading in the Knesset plenum a bill calling for the dispersal of the 23rd Knesset and holding elections for the 24th Knesset on March 16, 2021.
According to the measures laid out in the bill, each party, regardless of its size, will receive NIS 2.6 million ahead of the elections, an increase from the NIS 1.3 million each party received prior to the previous elections.
The bill also includes a proposal to increase transparency and calls to clarify who is paying for specific campaign advertising. Furthermore, the bill allows the factions more time to pay back loans they had taken out in the previous election campaign. They will now have four years and four months to pay back the funds.
