During the last session of the 23rd Knesset before its dissolution at midnight Thursday, Speaker of the Knesset MK Yariv Levin (Likud) said, “The mandate ends at 00:00, and since the state budget for 2020 has not been passed, I hereby declare the dissolution of the 23rd Knesset.”

“This is a complicated time with numerous challenges, and it also holds many disagreements. The disagreements within the public were naturally expressed in this building as well,” Levin said.

“We are embarking on an election campaign that is not simple. From here I call on each and every one of us, and each and every one of Israel’s citizens, to avoid escalating the tensions and to do all that is possible so that the election campaign will be conducted and concluded in an orderly manner and without displays of violence.”

“I thank all the members of Knesset, the Knesset’s management and the Knesset’s employees for their great efforts to maintain a parliamentary routine under the complicated circumstances of this challenging time,” said Levin.
