Former Finance Minister Yair Lapid responded to the poll that indicated that his political party would receive the same amount of Knesset chairs as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political party if an election was held today. “Yesh Atid is the only alternative government,” stated Lapid.

Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid commented on the recent survey that allotted his political party the same amount of mandates as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud last night (Saturday) during an interview with Channel 2 News. Lapid said that his political party is continuing in its normal routine and remaining humble.
The former minister rejected the possibility that he will join forces with another political party and become the second-in-command. “If Menachem Begin were here, I would be prepared to be number 2, 3 or even 10 behind him but the polls indicate that I’m the only other alternative.”
“For long months, Yesh Atid has been the only alternative government and if you look at the numbers, there’s no one else besides me challenging Netanyahu in the end,” added Lapid.

In regards to the Palestinians, Lapid said: “We need to get the Palestinians out of our lives. We need a tall wall so that we won’t see them anymore. There won’t be peace. We don’t want two states compressed into one.”
