A recent report by Channel 2 news uncovers that the lawyer set to defend the Israeli Regulation Law against the Israeli Supreme Court is suspected of criminal activity. After Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced that he is not going to defend the case, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hired a new lawyer Dr. Harel Arnon who may have ties to the Ari Harow affair.

Arnon stated, “I was interrogated as part of an ongoing investigation against one of my office’s clients Mr. Ari Harow and the circumstances surrounding the ownership of his company.” He continued, “Certain restrictions apply to me as a lawyer in terms of what I can say about my clients. I did however fully cooperate with the investigators. I am sure that that allegations against Mr. Harow will turn out to be baseless.”

Netanyahu’s former chief of staff was questioned and eventually investigated by the police in 2016 after being linked to fraudulent ownership of a consulting firm. The case also included an investigation into Netanyahu’s involvement as well.

It is still unclear whether Mandelblit plans to actually appear in person to argue against the government or send a representative on his behalf.
