This morning (Thursday), Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman once again, as reported yesterday by JOL, implicitly addressed the airstrike on Syria associated with Israel, stating that Israel makes its decisions freely.

“Our policies and views are very clear and are based upon three red lines,” Lieberman said participating this morning in the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting. “We will not allow any harm to Israeli citizens, we will not allow for any harm towards Israel’s sovereignty and we will not allow the smuggling of sophisticated weapons nor chemical weapons from Syria to Lebanon for Hezbollah.”

Lieberman dedicated the rest of the meeting to a subject which he claimed is “disturbing and harassing” the Israeli security establishment. “International sources are currently conducting a war of legal attrition against the State of Israel through international funding, including European countries,” Lieberman stated. “The security establishment is currently dealing with 260 Supreme Court cases: 110 against Jewish settlement and another 150 against the State of Israel.”

“260 Supreme Court cases in total have been filed and it is harming the normal functioning of the Israeli Defense Ministry’s legal department,” he added. “We simply are not prepared for this in regard to resources and manpower. There is no doubt that the Supreme Court cases were mainly meant to disturb and harass the entire establishment.”
