Yesterday (Thursday), US news outlets reported that Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide. The 41-year-old, who suffered from a history of drug and alcohol addiction, was found dead in his private residence in Los Angeles around 9AM (Los Angeles time). The local police confirmed his death.

Bennington had 6 children from 2 wives. He died on the birthday of his good friend and rock legend Chris Cornell, who committed suicide several months ago.

The Phoenix-born singer suffered from a tough childhood. “When I was young, getting beaten up and pretty much raped was no fun,” he said in a 2011 interview with the Guardian. “My God, no wonder I became a drug addict. No wonder I just went completely insane for a little while.”

A couple of months ago, the rock band released their latest album One More Light and planned to start touring the US next week.
