At the start of the week, JOL News reported that this year’s annual memorial ceremony marking the assassination of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was canceled due to lack of funding. Zionist Camp leader Isaac Herzog then announced that his party would organize an alternative rally, and now it has been revealed that many Israeli personalities and artists have already agreed to take part.
The theme of the rally marking the 21st anniversary for Rabin’s assassination will be the struggle against the incitement and hatred that are being spread by elected officials, Members of Knesset, ministers and the Israeli Prime Minister himself. Amongst those scheduled to speak at the rally are Israel Prize for Hebrew Literature and Poetry recipient Erez Biton, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Noam Tibon, Rabbi Binyamin Lau and Michal Froman, who was stabbed in a terror attack in the settlement of Tekoa.
Also attending the rally will be victims of hate crimes and incitement and bereaved parents, as well as a list of prominent Israeli artists who announced that they were not willing to remain silent in the face of dangerous incitement and hatred directed at entire factions of Israeli society. Many organized groups have also already announced their participation and the event has been shared by tens of thousands of Israelis on social media.
