Former U.S. President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke today (Thursday) side by side at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate during an event marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the schism that led to the split of the Catholic Church and the formation of the Protestant movements. The two discussed the global responsibility with which world leaders are tasked, climate change, social equality and other issues.
140,000 people arrived at the 18th-century arch in order to listen to the two leaders. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is visiting the NATO headquarters in Brussels ahead of the G-7 summit in Sicily.
