Trump, Melania and their son witness the total solar eclipse
Today (Monday), millions of US citizens, including US President Donald Trump and his family, gathered in order to witness the total solar eclipse. This was the first total solar eclipse seen across the US since 1918. It is estimated that the US economy will lose approximately 700 million dollars due to the amount of people who skipped work to watch nature’s miracle.
Although some parts of Western Europe, South America and Canada got to experience the once in a lifetime eclipse, the rest of the world wasn’t so lucky. Reports in the US claim that the eclipse will be the most watched, filmed and recorded space event of all time. Experts warn not to look directly at the Sun with the naked eye as it is dangerous.

The eclipse is caused by the Moon’s shadow on Earth. The Sun, which is a huge star but is at a very far distance overlaps the Moon, which is much closer to us. This creates the phenomenon where they look exactly the same size.
