The British police have named the third terrorist behind the attack in London as Youseff Zaghba, aged 22, a restaurant worker born in Morocco, Scotland Yard has confirmed.
According to an Italian newspaper, Zaghba was born in the city of Fez to a Moroccan father and an Italian mother. He reportedly moved to Italy with his mother following his parents’ separation. Last year, he bought a one-way ticket to Turkey and was arrested by Italian security services on suspicion of trying to reach Syria.
When searching through his phone, Italian police found a large amount of religious content, but nothing that necessarily suggested an interest in jihad.
On Monday, it was reported that the two other terrorists who carried out the deadly attack were 27-year-old Khuram Butt and 30-year-old Rachid Redouane.
