A majority of Israeli Security Cabinet ministers opposed the re-approval of the Qalqilya expansion plan, despite the fact that it had already been approved by the cabinet.
Minister Gilad Erdan, Minister Yoav Galant, Minister Ayelet Shaked, Minister Naftali Bennett, Minister Ze’ev Elkin and Minister Yisrael Katz opposed the expansion plan, creating a majority of 6 to 4 cabinet members.

Several weeks ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided that the Security Cabinet will hold another discussion on the plan to expand the Palestinian city of Qalqilya due to the political pressure from the right-wing and the fierce criticism voiced by Likud and Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi ministers. This, after Netanyahu claimed that he didn’t remember the cabinet ever agreeing on the plan in the first place.
