Israeli Ambassador to Mexico Jonathan Peled has been reprimanded by the Mexican government following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s tweet expressing support for the building of a wall between the United States and Mexico.
Ever since Netanyahu tweeted that Trump is correct in his decision to build the border wall, the Israeli government has been trying to calm tensions between the two nations. Peled said that Netanyahu’s tweet wasn’t necessarily referring to the wall that Trump is planning but the fence on Israel’s southern border with Sinai.
The Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry began trying to mitigate the fallout from Netanyahu’s remarks yesterday (Saturday), saying “We do not express a position on US-Mexico relations.” However, Mexico has expressed its outrage over what it perceives to be Israeli involvement in the controversial border wall issue.
President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea
