Bennett’s demands to change the way that the Security Cabinet ministers are updated regarding information before meetings is receiving unexpected support from the Opposition. Today (Saturday), Yesh Atid and even Meretz, two political parties from the Opposition, expressed their support for Bennett’s demands.

“I support changing the Security Cabinet procedures just as the Education Minister, Naftali Bennett, proposed and call on him to not make any compromises,” declared Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On. “Israel’s security is more important than any political deal. Regarding this issue, Bennett and I share the same opinion and everything possible needs to be done in order to avoid the next security mishap.”

“I completely support Bennett’s demands,” clarified MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid). Shelah added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is directly responsible for the Security Cabinet’s weakness.

Yesterday (Friday), Bennett harshly attacked Netanyahu’s decision to form a committee that will recommend possible ways to update the Security Cabinet ministers, instead of appointing military secretaries to every Security Cabinet minister, as Bennett demanded. “A minute before the Prime Minister went to the press with his announcement about ‘establishing a committee,’ they called to inform me,” wrote Bennett in a message to the Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi MKs. “There’s nothing there. We are fed up with committees.”
