Two MKs from different political parties within the coalition argued with each other today near Amona while Israeli security forces are preparing to evacuate the outpost. “Tell Bennett to go home,” said MK Oren Hazan to MK Bezalel Smotrich. “Someone who makes empty promises to residents shouldn’t be in the Knesset.” Smotrich then compared the Amona evacuation to rape.

While Israeli security forces are getting ready for the Amona evacuation, MKs Bezalel Smotrich (Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi) and Oren Hazan (Likud) visited the outpost today (Wednesday) and argued with each other in front of the cameras. “Bennett should go home,” Hazan shouted at Smotrich, criticizing Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett. “You guys [Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi] aren’t worthy of being in the Knesset.” Shortly after Hazan criticized Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi, Smotrich claimed that the Amona evacuation “hurts just like rape.”
The argument started when Hazan noticed reporters interviewing Smotrich. Hazan then approached Smotrich and interrupted him. “Tell Bennett to go home,” he said. “Someone who makes empty promises to residents shouldn’t be in the Knesset. The Likud didn’t promise anything to the Amona residents and didn’t try to attack from the right-wing like you guys did. It hurts me on these people here. He [Bennett] should go learn a lesson from US President Trump on how to act.”

Smotrich then responded to Hazan’s remarks during the interview and claimed that even though the government is right-wing, his political party worked very hard to try to stop the evacuation. “We did everything and we are doing everything in order to ensure that this is the last time,” he said. “Leaving the government would not be beneficial. We are working to pass the Regulation Law that will allow the continuation of the settlement enterprise.”

Smotrich stated that the evacuation of the outpost will not be violent even though it is very painful for the residents. He then attacked the judicial system. “When a woman is raped, it hurts,” he said. “What is being done now is a brutal rape. This is the tyranny of the judicial branch raping us and taking the mandate from the elected officials.”
