Adva mother of the4-year-old terror victim Adele Bitton  was thrown out of a Knesset meeting that was held to discuss the proposed death penalty bill.

The attack occurred on March 14, 2013 near Ariel when a truck driver suddenly hit the brakes after his vehicle was struck by stones hurled by Palestinians. The car behind him, carrying Adele, her two sisters and their mother Adva Biton, lost control and collided with the truck. The 4-year-old girl who sustained injuries died of pneumonia as a result of the attack.

The Constitution, Law and Justice Committee of the Knesset discussed on Wednesday a bill which would make it easier for courts to sentence terrorists convicted of murder to death.

Although the death penalty formally exists in Israel, it has been applied only once, in 1962, in the case of high Nazi officer Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Holocaust. Technically permitted for cases of high treason and in certain circumstances under martial law within the IDF and in the territory of the West Bank, it currently requires the unanimous decision of a panel of three judges, and has never been implemented.

The bill, which is promoted by the Israel Beitenu party, led by Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, would allow a simple majority of two judges against one to apply the death penalty.

MK Tamar Zandberg (Meretz) said, “Imagine that in the case of Tair Rada we would have executed Roman Zadorov. The power to take a life is something that we should have rejected out of hand as a human society. While the world is gradually renouncing this barbaric act, Israel is embracing this sub-human act? I am ashamed that my name will appear on the list of people who took part in this meeting.

Turning to members of Yisrael Beitenu, MK Zandberg said “You are a bunch of empty agents, empty puppets sent by the boss when the rightist base monster has to be given something. Instead of admitting that a diplomatic ]window] must be opened, you present this contemptable death penalty bill.”

Adva was removed from the meeting after she disrupted MK Zandberg and said “You would behave differently had it been your child.”
