In a Friday press conference, Undersheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told reporters that investigators have yet to discover the motives behind Sunday’s mass shooting. “We will and are continuing to investigate with great tenacity and hope to arrive at an answer,” assured McMahill.

The undersheriff said that a massive amount of resources is being invested in the investigation and local police are reviewing every single aspect of gunman Stephen Paddock’s life. “I get it, we all want answers,” said McMahill. “We have looked at everything, literally, to include the suspect’s personal life, any political affiliation, his social behaviors, economic situation and any potential radicalization that so many have claimed.” Nevertheless, he stated that they found no “clear motive or reason why.”

Despite ISIS’ claim of responsibility, McMahill told reporters that there is no known connection between the shooter and the terror organization but all possibilities are being investigated. According to a report by CNN today, Paddock attempted but failed to purchase tracer ammunition – bullets that leave an illuminated trace in their path. Tracer ammunition enables the shooter to see the direction of the flying bullets and thus improves aim.
