Today (Thursday), Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah spoke as part of the victory celebrations against ISIS on the Syrian-Lebanese border. In a recorded speech, Nasrallah told his listeners how he drove to Damascus in order to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and discuss with him the expulsion of ISIS form the region.

During his speech, Nasrallah praised his fighters and the Lebanese military in their battle against ISIS: “We wanted the end of the battle to be conducted by the Lebanese military and that’s what happened.”

According to Nasrallah, he convinced Assad to agree to a deal between the Hezbollah and ISIS, in which ISIS terrorists would be transferred to eastern Syria. Earlier this week, the Lebanese military and Hezbollah declared a coordinated cease-fire in order to negotiate the fate of captive Lebanese soldiers kidnapped by ISIS in 2014.
