Kevin Wilshaw was once the leader of the British National Front party, a far right-wing party that promotes a racist and anti-Jewish agenda. However, he surprised many in the UK last night when he revealed that he is a gay man of Jewish heritage.

Neo-Nazi and former leader of Britain’s National Front party Kevin Wilshaw revealed surprising news about his life that shocked the UK on Tuesday evening. In an interview with a local TV station, Wilshaw came out as a gay man and stated that he has Jewish roots.

Wilshaw renounced the far right-wing organization of which he had been a member for the last 40 years and claimed that he was harassed due to his sexuality. He announced during the interview with Channel 4 News that his mother was half-Jewish, adding that her maiden name was Benjamin. He also admitted that his sexuality and hidden Jewish heritage contradict the statements he has made over the past decades.

Wilshaw said that he realized that racism was “rubbish” when his fellow party members started to harass him. “It’s a terribly selfish thing to say but it’s true, I saw people being abused, shouted at, spat at in the street – it’s not until it’s directed at you that you suddenly realize that what you’re doing is wrong,” he stated.

He also explained what prompted him to join the far right-wing group, saying that he “didn’t have many friends at school” and he “wanted to be a member of a group of people that had an aim.”
