Former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman with Binyamin Netanyahu in the Knesset

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has announced that he will resign as Foreign Minister.

Netanyahu has been serving as foreign minister since 2015.

He also holds the position of Defense Minister temporally after the resignation of Avigdor Liberman last month.

However that will change,  as Netanyahu will be formally named the Defense Minister; therefore he has chosen to relinquish the position of Foreign Minister. and appoint a replacement next month.

Netanyahu will also name a replacement for the Immigration and Absorption portfolio, which Sofa Landver also left vacant last month. Government sources estimate that the current Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tzipi Hotovely, of the ruling Likud party, will replace Landver, while another deputy of the Likud will probably receive the Foreign Ministry.
