Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the women of Israel in a Facebook post marking International Women’s Day.

“Even though we still have plenty of work to do, we’ve come a long way toward realizing equal rights and equal opportunities for women,” Netanyahu wrote on Thursday. “I’m sure we will finish the job.”

Netanyahu’s International Women’s Day post included a picture of his wife, Sara, and US President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania. “On this day, before anything, I hug the woman in my life—my beloved wife, Sara,” he added. “She dedicates her whole life to our family. She’s the backbone of our life. In addition to that, she’s also dedicating herself to bereaved families, cancer-sick children, elderly people and Holocaust survivors, battered women, and lone soldiers. She does this in parallel with her work as a child psychologist in the public service.”

Netanyahu then slammed the Israeli media, which, according to him, repeatedly attacks his wife. “Unfortunately, in exchange for all of her activities, she receives from the media non-stop evil and malicious attacks,” he claimed. “But many of you guys know the truth and show her love, appreciation and wonderful support.”
