Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is finishing up preparations towards his meeting with US President Donald Trump in New York tomorrow (Monday), which will mainly deal with the Iranian nuclear deal, and also towards his annual speech at the UN General Assembly. This year, Netanyahu has planned yet another gimmick and this time, he is expected to directly address Iranian spiritual leader Ali Khamenei, maybe even in Farsi.
The main subject matter of Netanyahu and Trump’s meeting will be the Iranian nuclear deal and Netanyahu will send a clear message, taking a strong stance against Iran and enlisting help from the US in order to formulate a new deal with Israel’s interests in mind. If there is any message Netanyahu will want to relay, it is that the world cannot blink today, for tomorrow it could wake up with a nuclear Iran.
Trump probably will not tear up the nuclear deal after the meeting as promised, as this is a much more complicated process than expected. It will take more time and the subject still needs to reach the political arena in the US, where many believe that the harsh approach towards Iran could lead to an Iranian nuclear front.
